Motorola i760 Cellphones Review

The Motorola i760 is a cute lil chic clamshell based on the iDen 800 frequency. For those of you who are not in America, iDen may require some explanation. Americans, also may want to know what exactly iDen is; iDEN (Integrated Digital Enhanced Network) is a wireless technology from Motorola combining the capabilities of a digital cellular telephone, two-way radio, alphanumeric pager, and data/fax modem in a single network. iDEN operates in the 800 MHz, 900MHz, and 1.5 GHz bands and is based on time division multiple access (TDMA) and GSM architecture. It uses Motorola's Vector Sum Excited Linear Predictors (VSELP) vocoder for voice compression and QAM modulation to deliver 64 Kbps over a 25 KHz channel. iDEN is designed to give the mobile user quick access to information without having to carry around several devices. In early 2001, a new iDEN handset is scheduled for release that will tackle added business needs like logistics management and alerts. Currently, iDEN systems work in more than a dozen countries.

Coming back to the handset; the i760 is the next in line from the i730. The clamshell has 2 displays. The internal one is a 65,536 colors LCD while the external one is monochrome. Its a pretty basic handset per se since it lacks even a camera which is considered a most accessory today. Luckily its not as if the phone lacks all advanced features. It does have Mp3 ringtones and support for multiple languages including English, French, Spanish, Portuguese. Push to talk - quite the rage in the United States will be supported by the Motorola i730. Users will find it easy to browse the net wirelessly since the browser "Openwave" comes with the phone. GPS , Java and other iDen features are obviously included in the i730.
